The flu has hit my house

Friday of last week my husband came down with the flu. By Saturday my daughter and I came down with it. Today makes one week. The chills are gone, the fever is gone. But we are left with the worst dry hacking cough. We have all been to the doctor, me twice. I ended up today at my lung doctor. He said I have chronic bronchitis. Now he has me on cough medicine, antibiotic, and a inhaler. The problem is I am afraid of the inhaler because of all the side effects. So let me know if I am being silly.
