It is made to satisfy with merely ground beef, pasta shells, tomato sauce, milk, and seasoning. It doesn't seem like anything but it's like consuming a cheeseburger out of a skillet after it all comes together. Especially in the winter months it is a really comfortable meal for the family or guests I have over.
The dish is so smooth and yummy! I serve with it, green beans or broccoli, but serve with what you like, this makes it more balanced.
You will start by cooking and draining the pasta as per the instructions of the box.
Next, brown the beef with a little garlic powder, salt and pepper, in a deep skillet. If you wish, you might add in a diced onion too or what ever you wish.
Toss the pasta shells, tomato sauce, a little water and half of the cheese in with the beef until the beef is cooked, then combine it all up.
Pour it into a square baking dish that has been greased (9 x 13).
Cover with the remaining cheese, that was left, and then bake in a 375 degree oven, covered with foil for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake to cook the cheese for an extra 10 minutes. I do want the last few minutes to leave the dish in the oven to broil and render it even further until its nice and toasty.
Depending on the appetites, this simple casserole allows enough to accommodate 6-8 hungry guests. The following day we normally have the leftovers, which is almost as great in the microwave reheated!
