Easter Bunny, Easter Egg History

The history of the Easter bunny, according to some, arrived here in American during the 1700's. Along with the German immigrants, that settled in Pennsylvania, and brought with their tradition of a egg laying hare. This was known as Osterhas. The little children wood make nest for these eggs, and waited to see if the hare laid colored eggs.

In truth the Easter bunny is folklore, and brought from it a rabbit which in turn brought Easter, then Easter eggs.

There are many different traditions, and different ways others celebrate the Easter Holiday. To some they decorate eggs, and give them as gifts, while others cover cardboard eggs, that are then covered in satin, and come filled with Easter gifts inside.

The Easter bunny that came from all of this became more common during the 19th century. And this is how it became so popular for children to have Easter egg hunts as part of their holiday tradition. But not all counties believe in a Easter bunny. Switzerland for Easter, have their eggs brought by a cuckoo, while in parts of Germany, their eggs come by fox.

However you celebrate the Easter Holiday, we know soon after, spring will arrive!
