DYI Pomegranate Wine

Have you ever wondered how to make pomegranate wine, let me tell you. The pomegranate makes a great medium bodied wine, that is to good to put into words.

All you need to start your wine is the following:
  • 10 to 15 ripe pomegranates
  • 1 gallon water
  • 3 lbs. granulated sugar
  • 1/2 lb. barley
  • 1 juiced lemon
  • Wine yeast and nutrient
Make sure to wear sterile gloves, this juice can create a powerful stain.

Peel your fruit removing the seeds. Place the seeds in a fermentation vessel along with sugar and lemon juice. Place barley in your water then boil. You will simmer for five minutes and then strain. This will be strained into your primary fermentation vessel. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Then you will cool, add your yeast and nutrients and cover. You allow your fermentation happen for five days. All gets strained then into the secondary fermentation jar. The second fermentation will sit until your wine is clear. When bottled it will last up to one year.
