How to store lemons or limes

We don't eat limes or lemons like we do oranges so they need to be stored to assure freshness.

There are a few ways to store them. You can place them both in a cool, dry place at room temperature. And they will stay fresh for at least a week. This method is good for storing them, if you use them up fast.

If you don't use them on a daily basis, you may want to put them in the fridge. Place them in your crisper drawer. There they will last up to three weeks.

You may also freeze them. Place them whole in a plastic freezer bag and pop them in your freezer. Just make sure to use them within four months. They will turn mushy this way, but they will still have plenty of juice. You can also section the both of them before freezing, making sure to remove seeds and membranes. Then boil 2 and 3/4 cups of sugar with 4 cups of water to form a syrup. When the syrup is cool place it in a freezer bag with your fruit. This will keep them in good condition after you take them out and thaw them.
