Easter Dinner Tip

There are Easter dishes that are easy to prepare, you don't need a expensive menu to impress your quest. Adapting some basics recipes with a few extra ingredients can serve up different flavors without the extra expense.

HoneyTree's Honey Ham Glaze, 11.3-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 12)

Lets talk about the ham, which is the traditional meat that is choosen. The thing is, that the ham doesn't need to be just plain. A sweet glaze is often baked on the ham. Glazes can be made with just some simple staples we already have in the cabinet. Brown sugar, honey, even maple syrup, are great for glazes. The way to transform them are the flavors you can add. Try adding some chopped garlic, some lemon juice and the rind as well, some chopped nuts of your chooice, even mustard. By reducing your favorite wine, or balsamic vinegar or soy sauce with some sugar are great flavors. Apple sauce or your favorite fruit jams make delicious glazes to.

How about ham steaks, they are great to and can be prepared in several ways.  Try breading them and baking or frying for a different taste. You can also barbecue them in your favorite barbecue sauce. I have even had a ham steak with melted cheddar cheese and apple sauce on it. Broiling a ham steak until it is golden brown creates another great taste. Ham steaks are great for just a dinner of two for Easter. And can be turned into a wonderful romanitc meal.

Then there are the side dish's we choose, usually veggies. Spring veggies like baby carrots, green beans even asparagus make great choices. Steam them, then add a dab of butter and fresh herbs on top. They look very elegant this way. Roasting is another method of cooking fresh veggies, some carrots and onions roasted low, for one hour works to. The roasted veggies will have toasty edges and great flavors nice and sweet. They are not only good hot, but cold with a nice vinaigrette dressing in a salad.

And there's nothing better than a good dessert at the end of a Easter meal. How about some cookies or cupcakes with pastel colors. Or even a nice square cake decorated with bunnies and jelly beans, and green dyed coconut for grass. A roll of sugar cookies, rolled out and cut with Easter cutters is fast also. Another fun idea is making birds nests from crushed cereal, chocolate melted, and melted marshmallows. You spread this inside a greased bowl, making a indentation in the middle and allow it to set. Make a few of these any size you wish and fill them with chocolate eggs, or even your favorite ice cream. The birds nest also taste good with some fresh fruit inside topped with whipped cream.

You can also make your own truffle eggs, by rolling spoonfuls of a truffle mixture into a egg shape. After which you will turn them into some powered sugar and nuts, even cocoa powder to coat and put in the fridge to set. Serve on a pretty pastel or Easter platter.
